Local Swiss team or distributed engineering?

A Zurich office does not automatically mean the engineering team is based in Zurich. Some Swiss providers combine local product, architecture or account teams with engineering capacity elsewhere in Europe or globally. That can be a perfectly valid model, but it should be explicit before you compare proposals.

Ask where the named engineers work, how many hours overlap with your team, which legal entity signs the agreement, who can access sensitive systems, and what happens when a team member changes. Fixed price, time and materials, or dedicated team?

Fixed price can work when the scope and acceptance criteria are genuinely stable. Time and materials is often more suitable for evolving products and modernization where priorities change.
