Software Houses in Islamabad
Islamabad's software scene is smaller than Karachi's or Lahore's, and more engineering-heavy. Data platforms, IoT, telecoms and AI work come up a lot, and several firms here were started or are led by engineers with long careers in Silicon Valley and at large US companies. Compare the Islamabad software houses below, then use the notes underneath before you sign with one.

Hiring a software house in Islamabad
Most Islamabad firms are mid-sized, somewhere between a few dozen and a few hundred people. That size often means the senior engineers stay close to delivery. Many work as long-term product teams for US clients rather than taking short fixed-price builds, so expect questions about your roadmap, not only your first release.
What it costs
Most Islamabad software houses quote somewhere between 25 and 49 US dollars an hour, with specialist AI and data teams sometimes above that. Smaller studios go lower. Monthly team pricing is common, and it is usually cheaper per hour than a fixed-price project.
Working hours
Pakistan runs on UTC+5 all year. London is 4 to 5 hours behind, so a London morning overlaps with an Islamabad afternoon. The Gulf is an hour behind. The US East Coast is 9 to 10 hours behind, and a lot of Islamabad firms already run late shifts or split hours for American clients. Ask which one you'll get.
What to check before you sign
- Which company signs. Several Islamabad firms bill through a US entity. Make sure the IP assignment and governing law sit with an entity you can actually reach.
- Relevant work. Ask for a project close to yours, especially for data, IoT or AI work, where experience matters more than headcount.
- Who's on your project. Ask to meet the lead engineer before you sign.
- Payment terms. Invoices are normally in US dollars by bank transfer. Tie payments to delivered milestones, not to dates.
