1. Who we are
Brandligo is a business directory operated by Brandligo
(“we”, “us”, “our”) at https://www.brandligo.com. In these terms
“you” means the person using the site, and where you are acting for a business,
that business as well.
You can reach us at
[email protected]
or through the contact form.
2. Accepting these terms
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. Creating an
account, submitting a listing or leaving a review is an explicit acceptance.
We may change these terms. The effective date at the top of this page always says when the
current version took effect. Where a change materially reduces your rights or increases your
obligations, and you hold an active paid placement, we will email the address on your account
at least 14 days before it applies to you; continuing to use the site after that date is
acceptance of the new version. Everything else takes effect when it is published here.
3. What Brandligo is
Brandligo is a directory. Businesses list themselves or are listed editorially,
and buyers browse, compare and review them. We publish information; we do not supply the
services or products described in it.
What that means in practice:
-
We are not a party to anything you agree with a listed business. Any contract, payment,
delivery, warranty or dispute is between the two of you.
-
A listing is not a recommendation. Appearing in the directory, ranking well in it, or
carrying a Verified badge is not our endorsement of anybody's work.
-
We do not audit the businesses we list. Approval means a person read the submission and
judged it suitable to publish — it is a check on the listing, not on the company.
-
Ratings are computed from published reviews. They are the opinions of the people who
wrote them, not statements of fact by us.
How we decide what is published, and what is paid for, is set out in full on
our moderation and trust page. That page and this one
are meant to be read together.
4. Accounts
You may browse, search and compare without an account. An account is needed to submit a
listing, leave a review, keep a shortlist or manage a placement.
- You must be at least 16, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.
-
Give us accurate details and keep them current. One person, one account — do not
create accounts to evade a suspension or to leave more than one review of the same
business.
-
You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by
someone you gave access to. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly at
[email protected]
if you think it has been used without your permission.
-
We may ask you to confirm your email address. Some actions require a confirmed address;
browsing never does.
-
You can close your account at any time by asking us. What happens to your content when
you do is described in section 20.
5. Listings
A listing is a company, a brand under that company, or a product under that brand, together
with anything attached to it — descriptions, logos and images, categories, locations,
team members, portfolio entries and pricing information.
5.1 Nothing publishes itself
Every listing is submitted unpublished and stays that way until an administrator approves it.
That applies to the first version and to every later one: editing an approved listing
returns it to the moderation queue and it leaves the public directory until it is
approved again. This is deliberate, so that a page cannot be changed into something different
after it was checked. We do not commit to a turnaround time.
5.2 What you promise about a listing you submit
- The information is accurate, and you will correct it when it stops being accurate.
-
You are the business it describes, or you are authorised by that business to act for it.
-
You own or are licensed to use everything you upload, and publishing it here infringes
nobody's rights.
-
The listing describes a business that genuinely operates. Placeholder, duplicate,
speculative and keyword-stuffed listings are removed.
-
You will not use a listing to advertise something the listing is not about, to link to
malware or deceptive sites, or to make claims you cannot substantiate.
5.3 Editorial listings
Some listings are created by us from public information, so that the directory is useful
before every business has joined it. They are marked as unclaimed. If one describes your
business you can claim it (section 6), correct it, or ask us to remove
it. We will remove a listing at the request of the business it names.
5.4 What we may do
We may reject, edit for length, formatting or clarity, unpublish, or delete any listing, at
our discretion and without being obliged to give a reason — though we will normally give
one. We may also decline to list a business at all. We are not obliged to publish anything.
6. Claiming a listing
Claiming is how you prove a listing is yours and take control of it. You can prove it in one
of four ways, and every one of them tests the domain recorded on the listing rather than a
domain you supply:
- signing in with an email address at that domain;
- receiving a one-time code at an address at that domain;
- publishing a DNS TXT record we specify at that domain;
- placing a meta tag we specify on that domain's home page.
Where a listing has no domain worth checking, an administrator reviews the claim by hand and
may ask for other evidence. Codes are single-use and expire. Attempting to claim a listing
that is not yours, or interfering with someone else's claim, will lose you the account.
Claiming a listing gives you control of the listing. It does not give you control of the
reviews on it, and it does not entitle you to have any review removed.
7. Reviews
Reviews are the reason the directory is worth reading, which is why the rules about them are
the strictest rules here.
7.1 What a review must be
-
Your own, first-hand experience of buying from, working with or using
the business, brand or product you are reviewing. Not something you were told, and not
research.
-
Honest. You may be as critical as your experience warrants. You may not
state as fact something you know to be untrue.
-
Yours to give away. You may not be paid, discounted, entered into a
prize draw or otherwise rewarded for leaving it, by anyone.
7.2 What a review must not be
- A review of your own business, or of one you work for, own part of, or are related to.
- A review of a competitor.
- Written by anyone other than you, including by a reputation agency on your behalf.
-
Repeated. One review per reviewer per listing; update the one you left rather than adding
another.
-
Unlawful, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, obscene, or a disclosure of someone
else's personal data or of confidential information you are not free to publish.
-
About something the listing is not responsible for — a courier, a payment provider,
a national outage.
7.3 Moderation, and what we will not do
Every review is read by an administrator before it appears, and edits go back to the queue on
the same basis as listings. We may reject a review, ask you for more detail, or remove one
later if we learn it breached these rules.
We do not remove a review because the business asked, and we do not remove one because
the business paid. No amount of money buys the removal, suppression or reordering of a
review, and no plan we sell includes it. A review comes down when it breaks the rules above,
when the person who wrote it asks us to, or when we are legally required to remove it.
Where a review asks for extra detail — your role, the size of the engagement, what it
cost, what came out of it — every field is optional. Some of what you provide is used
only to check that the review is genuine and is never published; which fields those are is
set out in the privacy policy.
7.4 Ratings
A listing's rating is calculated from its published reviews. Nobody, including us, types a
rating in by hand. Reviews awaiting moderation and rejected reviews are not counted.
8. Owner replies and reporting
If you control a listing you may publish one reply to each review of it. Replies are moderated
like everything else. A reply that attacks the reviewer, discloses their personal information,
or pressures them to withdraw will be rejected and may cost you the ability to reply at all.
Anyone can report a listing or a review that they believe breaks these rules, using the report
link on the page. Reports are read by a person. Deliberately false reports are themselves a
breach.
9. Paid placement and plans
Some visibility on this site can be bought. All of it is labelled, and what it does is
bounded.
9.1 What a placement buys
A paid placement lifts a listing above the standard ordering on the surfaces the plan names
— a category, the directory listing pages, or the home page — for the term you
bought. Wherever it does, the listing carries a Sponsored label. Editorial
featuring, which we do occasionally at no charge, carries exactly the same label, because a
disclosure that distinguished them would be telling the reader something that does not matter
while hiding the thing that does.
9.2 What a placement does not buy
-
Not a Verified badge. Paying for placement does not buy a Verified badge.
Verified is a statement about identity and nothing else, it is granted only after an
administrator checks, and it is not for sale at any price. This is the same wording as
the trust page, deliberately.
- Not a rating. Ratings come from reviews and nothing else touches them.
-
Not the removal, hiding or reordering of a review — yours or a
competitor's.
-
Not a competitor's demotion, and not exclusivity unless the plan says so
in terms.
-
Not traffic, enquiries, sales or a ranking in any search engine. We
report what a placement delivered; we do not promise a number in advance and nothing on
the site should be read as one.
- Not editorial coverage, and no influence over what we write.
9.3 Plans change; what you bought does not
We may add, rename, reprice or withdraw plans. Repricing a plan never changes the price of a
placement already bought — the price you agreed is recorded on the placement itself.
Features work the other way round: they are read live, so a plan that gains a feature gives it
to everyone already on it. If we materially reduce what a plan includes, we will tell the
people on it, and you may cancel under section 10.
Where a plan grants a position that only one listing can hold at a time, we may cap how many
are sold. Nothing here guarantees a specific position against another paying customer; where
two placements compete, the earlier one holds the position.
9.4 Removal while a placement is running
A placement is visibility for a listing that is published. If the listing is unpublished
because it broke these terms, the placement does not entitle you to have it restored, and we
will not refund the remainder. If we unpublish it for a reason of our own, we will refund the
unused part of the term.
10. Billing, cancellation and refunds
10.1 Who takes the payment
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record
for the sale. That means Lemon Squeezy is the seller for tax purposes, handles the payment and
issues the invoice, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to the transaction alongside
ours. We never receive or store your card details.
10.2 Prices, currency and tax
Prices are shown on the pricing page in the currency
stated there. Sales tax, VAT or GST is calculated and collected by Lemon Squeezy based on
where you are, and is shown before you pay. You are responsible for any other tax that arises
for you.
10.3 Terms and renewal
A placement runs for the term you bought — monthly or yearly — starting when the
payment clears. Where a plan is sold as a recurring subscription it renews automatically at
the end of each term at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. You can cancel
at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us.
10.4 Cancellation and refunds
-
Cancelling stops the next renewal and runs to the end of the term you paid for.
You keep the placement until then. We do not pro-rate a part-used term.
-
A refund ends the placement immediately. The listing returns to the
standard ordering as soon as the refund is recorded.
-
Where you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel within 14
days. By buying a placement that starts immediately you ask us to begin at once and
acknowledge that you lose that right once the term has fully run; if you cancel part way
through, we refund in proportion to what is left.
-
Outside that, refunds are at our discretion. We will always refund a payment taken in
error and the unused part of a term we ended ourselves.
10.5 Failed payments
If a renewal fails, the placement ends at the end of the term already paid for. We do not
pursue you for the failed amount.
11. Your content and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of everything you submit — listing text, logos, images, reviews,
replies. Submitting it gives us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable
licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, publish, distribute and display it in
connection with operating and promoting the directory, including in search results, feeds,
structured data, our own emails and social posts, and machine-readable surfaces such as
llms.txt and our sitemaps.
The licence lasts as long as the content is published, and survives afterwards only to the
extent needed for backups, legal records and copies already distributed — we cannot
recall a page a search engine has cached.
Reviews are treated differently on removal. If you delete your account we will
remove your name from your reviews, but we may keep the review itself published without
attribution, because deleting the reviews of a business on demand would let anyone reset a
rating they did not like. If you want a specific review removed, ask us and we will consider
it.
You grant us no obligation of confidence. Do not send us anything confidential through the
site.
12. Our content and brand
The site itself — its design, code, structure, editorial writing, guides, rankings and
compiled data — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and
database rights. The name Brandligo and our logo are our marks; do not use them
without permission, except that a business we list may state that it is listed here and link
to its own page.
You may read, print and link to any public page. You may not copy the directory or a
substantial part of it, republish it, or use it to build a competing product.
13. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, or use the site to help someone else break it;
-
impersonate anybody, misrepresent your connection to a business, or use a false identity
to submit a listing, a review or a claim;
-
upload malware, or anything designed to interfere with the site, the servers it runs on or
the people using it;
-
probe, scan or test the security of the site, or bypass a rate limit, spam check, honeypot
or access control — if you find a vulnerability, tell us at
[email protected]
and give us a reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else;
-
place an unreasonable load on the site, or scrape it at a rate or scale that does
(see section 14);
-
collect email addresses or other personal data from the site, whether by hand or
automatically, for marketing or resale;
- frame the site, or present it as your own;
-
manipulate the directory — multiple accounts, fake reviews, coordinated voting,
deceptive links, or any other attempt to move a listing's position other than by being
worth the position.
14. Automated access and integrations
You may crawl the public site within the limits of
robots.txt, at a rate that does not degrade it for other
people. We publish llms.txt and
a sitemap so that automated readers do not have to guess.
We also issue tokens for a machine interface that can write to the catalogue. A token is
issued to a named person, is confidential, must not be shared, and may be revoked at any time.
Everything written through it is attributed to you, is subject to these terms exactly as if
you had typed it, and — like everything else — is created unpublished. Misuse of a
token, including using one to publish content you have not checked, ends the access.
15. Email we send you
We send transactional email — address confirmation, password resets, moderation
outcomes, notifications about your listings, and receipts. These are part of the service and
you cannot unsubscribe from them while you have an account, though you can turn most of the
notifications off.
We send very little unsolicited email. Where we do — principally an invitation to claim
an editorial listing — every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing
stops that kind of mail without affecting anything you have asked us for.
If mail to your address hard-bounces or you mark it as spam, we stop sending to that address
entirely, including messages you later ask for. Tell us at
[email protected]
if that has happened by mistake.
16. Availability and third parties
We try to keep the site available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted
or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and we may take it down for
maintenance. Where we can give notice we will.
The site links to other websites and carries advertising served by Google. We do not control
what is on a site we link to, and we do not choose which advertisements appear. A link is not
an endorsement, and an advertisement is not a recommendation. Your dealings with an advertiser
or a linked site are entirely between you and them.
17. Disclaimer of warranties
The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as
available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties,
conditions and representations that are not expressly set out in these terms, including any
implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or
non-infringement.
In particular we do not warrant that any listing is accurate or current, that any business
listed is solvent, competent, licensed, insured or suitable for you, that any review is
truthful, or that any rating reflects the quality of anyone's work. Doing your own
checks before you engage a supplier is your responsibility, and nothing here replaces it.
Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty that cannot be excluded by law, and if you are a
consumer your statutory rights are unaffected.
18. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by
our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot
lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows:
-
we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue,
business, goodwill, opportunity, anticipated savings or data, however it arises;
-
we are not liable for any loss arising out of your dealings with a business listed here,
an advertiser, or a site we link to;
-
we are not liable for anything published by another user, including a review of you or of
your business;
-
our total liability to you for all claims connected with the site in any 12-month period
is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period, or GBP 100.
If you are a consumer, the site is provided for your personal use and we are not liable for
business losses. If you use it for business, these limits are a reasonable allocation of risk
in exchange for the price.
19. Indemnity
If you use the site for business purposes, you will indemnify us against any claim, loss or
cost (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you submitted, from your breach of
these terms or the law, or from a third party's claim that something you published here
infringes their rights.
20. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the site at any time and can ask us to close your account. We will close it
and delete or anonymise your personal data as described in
the privacy policy.
We may suspend or close an account, unpublish a listing, or withdraw access without notice if
we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, if it is necessary to protect other users
or the site, or if we are required to. Where the breach is minor and fixable we will normally
say what is wrong and give you a chance to fix it first.
If we close your account for a breach, we do not refund an unused placement. If we close it for
any other reason, we refund the unused part.
Sections 11 (to the extent stated), 12, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22 survive termination.
21. Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the site, are
governed by the law of the country in which Brandligo is established,
and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that country.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the
country you live in, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
Please come to us first. Most disputes are resolved quickly by email to
[email protected],
and we ask that you give us 30 days to respond before starting a formal claim.
22. General
-
Entire agreement. These terms, the
privacy policy, and any order confirmation for a paid
placement are the whole agreement between us about the site.
-
Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest continues to
apply.
-
No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not
given up the right to enforce it later.
-
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may
transfer ours to a company that takes over the site, provided your rights are not reduced.
-
No third-party rights. Nobody other than you and us can enforce these
terms.
-
Events outside our control. We are not liable for a failure caused by
something genuinely beyond our reasonable control.
Questions about these terms, a listing, a review or a placement:
[email protected],
or the contact form. Copyright and trade-mark complaints
go to the same address; tell us what the material is, where it is, what right you hold and how
we can reach you, and we will act on it.
