Samsung Electronics makes Galaxy phones, tablets and watches, televisions, home appliances and the memory chips a large part of the industry runs on. Founded in 1969 and based in Suwon, South Korea.

Samsung Electronics was founded in 1969 and spent its first decade making televisions and white goods for the Korean market. The wider Samsung group is older, dating to 1938, but the electronics company is not, and the two are worth keeping apart. What turned it into what it is now was the decision to build memory chips, and it has been the largest memory manufacturer in the world since 1993.
Most people meet Samsung through Galaxy. The range runs from the A series, which is where most of the volume is, through the S series flagships to the folding Z series, and out sideways into tablets, laptops, watches, a ring, earbuds and an XR headset. All of it runs One UI on top of Android, and Galaxy AI is the name for the assistance layered across it.
Televisions are the other half of the consumer business, and Samsung has led that market for two decades. The range covers Micro RGB and Neo QLED at the top, OLED alongside them, QLED and Crystal UHD below, and The Frame, which hangs flat on a wall and shows artwork when nobody is watching anything. Soundbars and wireless speakers sit with them, and Odyssey and ViewFinity cover gaming and professional monitors.
The home appliances are sold as Bespoke: refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, vacuums and air conditioners, built to be configured by panel and colour rather than bought off a fixed list, and connected through SmartThings.
Behind all of that is the semiconductor business, which is the part most people never see and the part the rest of the industry depends on. DRAM and V-NAND memory, solid-state drives, the Exynos processors, ISOCELL image sensors, and a foundry that manufactures chips other companies design.
Samsung also owns Harman, acquired in a deal announced in November 2016, which brings JBL, AKG and Harman Kardon with it, along with a large automotive audio and connected-car business.
Samsung Electronics is headquartered at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, south of Seoul, and employs more than 260,000 people across operations in 76 countries.

It runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Samsung puts the weight at 201 grams and calls it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet. Samsung positions it as the compact, pocketable option in the foldable range. It has a 6.9 inch main screen and a 4.1 inch FlexWindow cover screen. Samsung says the chassis is slimmer than the previous Flip and that the phone uses a new processor. Prices start at 1,199.99 US dollars, with 256GB and 512GB storage. Pre-orders opened on 22 July 2026 and general availability starts on 7 August 2026. Colours are Graphite and Cream, with Pink and Mint sold online only.
