What the old BrandLigo article got wrong
The previous version relied heavily on promotional wording and described the projector as a “gaming powerhouse.” That was too broad. ViewSonic lists approximately 37 ms input lag, which may be acceptable for casual play but is not competitive with modern gaming projectors built around much lower-latency modes. The old page also treated high brightness as proof of strong performance in any well-lit environment. Brightness helps, but ambient light, screen material, room geometry and image size all affect usable contrast.
Is the PX747-4K still worth using?
If you already own one and the lamp, color wheel, fan and inputs are healthy, there is no reason to replace it simply because newer models exist. Its 3,500-ANSI-lumen rating and 4K UHD output can still make it useful for movies, sports and general viewing in a controlled room.
For a second-hand purchase, check lamp hours, brightness uniformity, color-wheel noise, fan noise, HDMI reliability, dust or optical artifacts, remote availability and the cost of a genuine replacement lamp. Also confirm that its 1.47–1.76 throw ratio fits your room before buying.
