About ZTE

ZTE is a telecommunications equipment company that also makes consumer devices, and the order matters: the network business - the base stations and core equipment carriers buy - is the larger half, and the phones grew out of it. That heritage shows in what it is strongest at. ZTE has long been a significant supplier of mobile broadband hardware, the routers and dongles carriers hand out with a data contract, and much of its phone volume has come through carrier channels rather than retail. The company was founded in 1985 in Shenzhen.
