About Huawei
Huawei began in 1987 as a telecommunications equipment company and still is one - the network hardware business is larger than the consumer one and is what most of the world's carriers know it for. The phones came much later and made it a household name outside the industry.
Two lines sit at the top of the consumer range. Mate is the technology-first flagship, where new silicon and new form factors appear. The P series, rebranded Pura, is the one Huawei describes as built around design and photography, and it is the line that made the company's camera work its reputation.
The company was founded in Shenzhen by Ren Zhengfei, who had left the Chinese army's engineering corps when it was disbanded in 1983, reportedly starting with about USD 3,000. Its Honor sub-brand was sold in 2020, under US sanctions, to a consortium of buyers including the Shenzhen city government; Honor has been an independent company since and has its own listing here.

Huawei Mate 90 Series Expected
Huawei has confirmed nothing. No event date, no specification, no price. A great deal has been written about a September launch and a new Kirin chip, and all of it traces back to Weibo tipsters. Huawei itself has not spoken, so no chip name, screen size or camera figure appears on this page. The current line is the Mate 80 series. Huawei set the launch for 25 November 2025 in China and shipped four models: the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design. The RS Ultimate Design starts at 20GB of RAM. Huawei launched the Mate X7 foldable at the same event. On timing, the Mate 70 series arrived in November 2024 and the Mate 80 series in November 2025. That gives a yearly autumn rhythm and nothing tighter, which is why this page says second half of 2026 rather than naming a month. Several reports say Huawei will move earlier this year. If it does, the announcement will say so, and this page will follow it.
Huawei Mate X8 Expected
Nothing official. Huawei has not confirmed a Mate X8, its name, its date or a single part inside it. Claims about screen sizes, chips and hinge changes come from tipsters, so they are not listed here. The Mate X7 is what exists. Huawei launched it in China on 25 November 2025 at the same event as the Mate 80 series, then took it worldwide on 11 December 2025 with an event in Dubai, alongside the FreeClip 2 earphones and the MatePad 11.5 S tablet. No window is given for a successor, and the reason is straightforward. Some reports put a Mate X8 between September and October 2026. Others say Huawei may hold it back so the Mate 90 series gets a clear run. Two leaks pulling in opposite directions add up to no information, and a made-up date would be worse than an empty field.
