tkxel

tkxel was founded in 2008 by Umair Javed, who leads it as chief executive. Javed has also taught at LUMS and co-founded the startup programme Lean Bricks. The company's corporate address is in Reston, Virginia, while most of its engineers work from Lahore, and it reports a presence in the United Kingdom, Poland, Australia and Canada as well.

It began as a web and mobile development shop, building Ruby on Rails applications for Silicon Valley clients and selling a few products of its own. Over time it has grown into a broader engineering firm, and published estimates of its headcount now run from about 500 to more than 1,200 people.

Its current work centres on AI-led projects: AI consulting and development, generative AI and machine learning, and intelligent automation. Around that sit the services it has offered for longer, including custom application development, web and mobile apps, cloud migration, UI and UX design, and cybersecurity. It works with both enterprises and startups, with technology, healthcare and finance among its main client sectors.

tkxel has repeatedly appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies in the United States.

For a buyer, the practical point is that tkxel is large enough to staff several workstreams at once and to run a long engagement, while its Lahore base keeps rates in the range typical of Pakistani software houses.
