About Wayflyer

Wayflyer lends to ecommerce businesses against their future sales rather than against assets or a personal guarantee. The problem it addresses is a timing one that grows worse the faster a store grows: inventory and advertising have to be paid for now, and the revenue they produce arrives weeks or months later. A bank looking at a three-year-old online retailer sees very little it recognises as collateral. Because repayment is a share of sales rather than a fixed schedule, a slow month costs the merchant less, which matters in a business as seasonal as most online retail. The underwriting draws on the store's own trading data instead of its accounts. The company was founded in 2019 in Dublin by Aidan Corbett and Jack Pierse. It raised a USD 76 million Series A in 2021 led by Left Lane Capital and a USD 150 million Series B in 2022 led by DST Global, the round that took it past a billion-dollar valuation. It has offices in London, New York, Charlotte and Sydney alongside Dublin.

Frequently asked questions

What does Wayflyer do?
It provides revenue-based finance to ecommerce businesses: unsecured funding advanced against future sales and repaid as a share of them.
How is that different from a bank loan?
There is no fixed repayment schedule and no asset to secure it against. Repayment moves with sales, so a slow month costs the merchant less, and the underwriting uses the store's trading data rather than its accounts.
Who is it for?
Online retailers that need to buy stock and advertising before the revenue they generate arrives - the timing gap that gets worse the faster the business grows.
When was Wayflyer founded, and where is it based?
Founded in 2019 by Aidan Corbett and Jack Pierse, headquartered in Dublin, with offices in London, New York, Charlotte and Sydney.
