Nothing has been announced. Samsung has not confirmed a product called Galaxy Buds5: no name, no date, no design, no features and no price. This page states none of them, and the honest position goes further than that. It is not certain the next Samsung earbuds will carry this name at all, because the hardware that has actually leaked is a different shape of product with a different reported name. What follows is what Samsung has published, what independent reporting supports, and what to buy in the meantime. The earbuds on sale now are the Galaxy Buds4 and the Galaxy Buds4 Pro, announced at Galaxy Unpacked on 25 February 2026 and released on 11 March 2026.

Why the name itself is in doubt

The obvious assumption is that the Galaxy Buds4 is followed by a Galaxy Buds5. Samsung has not said so, and the evidence points somewhere else first.

SamMobile reports a device with the model number SM-U600, referenced in the Galaxy Wearable app and with design images found in One UI 9 firmware, provisionally called the Galaxy Buds Able. It is described as a clip on hook design with a microphone grille, closer in shape to the Sony LinkBuds Clip or the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds than to anything Samsung currently sells, and possibly using bone conduction rather than conventional drivers.

Two things follow. The next Samsung earbuds to reach shops may be an additional line rather than a replacement for the numbered one. And SamMobile reports the Able has been delayed more than once and was not expected at the July 2026 Unpacked event, so even that product has no confirmed date.

The earbuds actually on sale

The Galaxy Buds4 range is where the money goes today, and the two models are less alike than the shared name suggests.

The standard Galaxy Buds4 uses an open fit design that rests in the ear rather than sealing it, with a single 11mm dynamic driver and an IP54 rating.

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro is a canal type earbud with silicone tips and an IP57 rating, and it runs a two driver arrangement: an 11mm woofer paired with a 5.5mm planar tweeter. Samsung's United States store lists it at 249.99 dollars in black. The standard model sits below it on price.

Both carry Bluetooth 6.1, Samsung's Adaptive ANC 2.0, which the company describes as reading ear shape and ambient noise in real time, and head gesture controls for answering and rejecting calls. Both use a redesigned blade stem with a brushed metal finish and a flat clamshell case with a transparent lid.

Reviewers have been positive overall, with praise for audio quality and criticism of noise cancelling that falls short of the best in class.

Why no expected release window appears here

Other pages will give you a predicted month. This one will not, because the record does not support one.

The numbered Galaxy Buds generations arrived in March 2019, August 2021, July 2024 and March 2026. The gaps run from roughly eighteen months to nearly three years, and the launch month has moved across spring, summer and late summer.

Averaging those gaps produces a number, but a number drawn from four irregular data points is a guess wearing a decimal point. Samsung has also broken its own pattern by attaching earbuds to phone launches in some years and to standalone events in others.

The practical reading is that Samsung announces earbuds when it has earbuds, most often alongside a Galaxy Unpacked event, and that the next one is the thing to watch rather than any date circulating now.

What to weigh a future model against

Whenever the next Samsung earbuds arrive, the comparison will not have changed much.

Against Apple, the AirPods Pro line is the direct rival on price and on noise cancelling, and the deciding factor is usually the phone in your pocket rather than the earbuds themselves. Samsung reserves several features, including its translation tools, for use with Galaxy phones, and Apple does the same in the other direction.

Against Sony and Bose, Samsung has generally been rated behind on noise cancelling and competitive on sound. If silence on a plane is the reason you are buying, those two are the benchmark.

Inside Samsung's own range, the more interesting comparison is between shapes rather than generations. The open fit standard model and the sealed Pro suit different ears and different rooms, and the reported clip on Able would be a third answer to the same question. Trying the shape matters more than waiting for the next number.

Who should buy something else

If you do not own a Galaxy phone, buy something else. A large part of what makes Samsung earbuds worth their price is the software that only activates with a Galaxy handset, and paired with an iPhone they become ordinary Bluetooth earbuds at a premium price.

If noise cancelling is the whole reason for the purchase, Sony and Bose remain the stronger choice, and reviewers said so about the current Samsung generation.

If you cannot keep an earbud in your ear during exercise, the open fit standard model is the wrong shape and the sealed Pro is the one to try.

If you are waiting specifically for a Galaxy Buds5, consider that the next Samsung earbuds may be a clip on open ear product under a different name, and that it has already slipped more than once. Buying the current Pro model and being pleasantly surprised later is the lower risk path.

And if your budget is tight, the previous generation is still supported and drops sharply in price once a new one lands.
