There is no Apple Watch SE 4. Apple has published no name, no date, no price and no specification for a fourth SE, and there is no Apple product page to point at. As of 15 August 2026, Apple's own Apple Watch page lists three watches: Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.

The useful part of this page is not a forecast. It is the cadence. The SE has never been an annual product, and the current one is less than a year old, so a reader who arrived here expecting a replacement within weeks is probably reading the wrong page. Reporting in July 2026 goes further than silence. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, quoted by both Macworld and 9to5Mac, said he had heard of no new Apple Watch SE planned for 2026. Both outlets treat that as unsurprising rather than as a snub, because the SE 3 was a substantial update and the SE has always run on a longer cycle than the rest of the range.

Anything you have read about the chip, the sensors or the price of a fourth SE comes from supply chain reporting and analyst notes. None of it appears on this page as fact.

Why the SE does not arrive every year

Three SE models have shipped. The first arrived in 2020, the second in 2022, and the third in 2025. That is a gap of two years, then a gap of three.

The Series line is the one that moves every September. The SE exists to hold a price, and holding a price is easier when the design stays still and the components get cheaper. Apple has updated it when it had a reason to, not when the calendar said so.

The practical reading is that the SE 3 will be the entry watch for a while yet. If you are waiting rather than buying, be clear with yourself about how long you are prepared to wait, because on the record so far the answer could be another two years.

What you give up is the top of the health feature list, the larger and brighter Series display, and the choice of finishes. The Apple Watch SE 3, which is the watch on sale today

Apple announced the SE 3 on 9 September 2025 and put it in stores on 19 September. Apple states that it starts at $249 in the United States.

Apple states that it comes in 40mm and 44mm aluminium cases in midnight and starlight, that it runs the S10 chip, which is the same chip Apple puts in the Series 11 and the Ultra 3, and that it has an always-on Retina display reaching up to 1000 nits behind cover glass Apple describes as four times more resistant to cracks than the previous generation. Apple claims up to 18 hours of normal use, up to 32 hours in Low Power Mode, and up to 8 hours of normal use from a 15 minute charge. Apple lists wrist temperature sensing, sleep score, sleep apnea notifications, irregular rhythm notifications, retrospective ovulation estimates, and 5G on the cellular model.

Those figures belong to the SE 3. They are here as the baseline a fourth model would be measured against, not as a description of one.

What to weigh against its nearest rival

The SE's nearest rival is the Series sitting directly above it in Apple's own range, not another company's watch. The gap between them is a handful of sensors, a bigger and brighter screen, and case material. Work out whether you will use the extra sensors before paying for them, because an unused sensor is the most expensive thing on a specification sheet.

Outside Apple the comparison is harder than it looks, because an Apple Watch needs an iPhone. If you carry an Android phone, Samsung's Galaxy Watch and Google's Pixel Watch are the alternatives and no Apple Watch is an option at all. If you carry an iPhone, the pull runs the other way: the watch is tied into the phone in ways a third-party watch cannot match, and that tie usually decides the purchase rather than any single feature does.

Who should buy something else

Anyone waiting for an SE 4 before buying should stop waiting on this page's account. Nothing is announced, reporting says nothing is planned for 2026, and the historic gap runs to three years.

Anyone who wants the fullest health picture Apple offers should buy the Series rather than the SE. That is what the extra money buys, and it is a reasonable thing to spend it on.

Anyone who swims in open water, dives, climbs, or runs long distances away from help should look at the Ultra, which is built for that and priced accordingly.

Anyone who carries an Android phone should not buy any Apple Watch. It will not pair.

Anyone who wants step counting, sleep tracking and a week between charges should look outside Apple entirely. Every Apple Watch is charged roughly daily, and a fitness band will do the basics for less money and far longer on a charge.
