App Development Companies in Dubai
Dubai has a crowded app development market. Some firms are local studios with every developer in the city, others sell from Dubai and build in India, Pakistan or Egypt, and a few are big regional names with offices across the Gulf. Compare the Dubai app developers below, then use the notes underneath to work out which kind of firm you are actually talking to.
Emirates Graphic is a Dubai web and mobile app development agency founded in 2013, with a fully in-house team that also covers UI and UX design and digital marketing.
Digital Gravity is a Dubai digital agency founded in 2014 that builds websites and mobile apps and runs SEO, paid media and branding, with a team of more than 200 people.
Hiring an app development company in Dubai
The first question to ask any Dubai app developer is simple: where will my app actually be built? A Dubai office address tells you where the contract is signed, not where the engineers sit. Both setups can work well. You just want to know which one you're buying.
What it costs
On the public profiles of firms listed here, hourly rates mostly sit in the 25 to 49 US dollar band, with some studios at 50 to 99. Minimum project sizes run from about 1,000 dollars for small agencies to 25,000 dollars and up for firms focused on funded startups and enterprise work. A simple app and a marketplace with payments, chat and an admin panel are very different projects, so compare quotes against the same written brief.
Things that matter more in the Gulf
- Arabic and right-to-left layouts. If your users read Arabic, the app has to be designed for right-to-left from the start, not flipped at the end. Ask to see a bilingual app the firm has shipped.
- Local payments. Check experience with the payment gateways and wallets your customers use, and with buy now pay later services if you sell online.
- Personal data. The UAE has its own personal data protection law, and some sectors have extra rules on where data is stored. Ask where your app's servers and backups will sit.
- Licensing. A Dubai company should hold a valid trade licence, on the mainland or in a free zone. It's a fair thing to ask for before you sign.
Who owns what at the end
Make sure the App Store and Google Play developer accounts are in your company's name, not the agency's. The same goes for source code, cloud accounts, domains and analytics. Moving an app between store accounts later is slow and sometimes messy.
Working hours
The UAE runs on UTC+4 all year. Teams in India and Pakistan are only an hour or so ahead, so offshore delivery from those countries keeps nearly the same working day. Europe overlaps for most of the afternoon. US clients usually need a late shift.
