In Islamabad, Romina Khurshid Alam, who is the Prime Minister’s advisor on climate change, has shared exciting news about a new initiative for Pakistan. She announced that the country will soon be opening its very first Green-Tech Hub, known as G-TH. This modern facility aims to make a big difference in Pakistan’s energy sector by encouraging the use of green technologies and renewable energy sources. The hub will also focus on promoting eco-friendly innovations that can help the environment. This initiative is part of Pakistan’s efforts to create a sustainable future and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources that harm the planet. The Green-Tech Hub is expected to play a crucial role in driving the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s advisor on climate change, spoke at a webinar about the establishment of the Green-Tech Hub (G-TH), which was organized by Paklaunch.com in partnership with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC). She emphasized that this initiative, backed by the Government of Pakistan, private investors, educational institutions, and global leaders in green technology, aims to make Pakistan a leader in sustainable innovation in the region.
Alam also mentioned that there are plans to present important projects at Pakistan’s Pavilion during the upcoming UN-led global climate summit (COP29), which will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, starting on November 11. This significant event is expected to attract between 40,000 and 50,000 delegates from over 192 countries, providing a platform for Pakistan to seek global investment for its climate resilience objectives.
“Presenting these initiatives at COP29 will help attract both international and local investors to support projects essential for Pakistan’s environmental sustainability,” Alam stated.
At this year’s climate conference, which is the second-largest gathering of heads of state, global leaders, and civil society members after the UN General Assembly (UNGA), discussions will focus on finalizing the first enhanced transparency framework and establishing a new collective quantified goal for climate finance, among other vital topics related to adaptation, mitigation, and the transfer of technology.
Alam highlighted, “The future of technology is green, and the G-TH will showcase Pakistan’s top talent, aspirations, and innovations.” The hub is designed to be an incubator for green startups, a research center for advanced technologies, and a collaborative space for entrepreneurs.
