About Zoom

Zoom is the software portfolio from Zoom Communications. In 2026 the range spans workplace collaboration, business telephony, customer experience, sales and events, hybrid workplace tools, and a newer agentic AI layer. This page explains how those product families fit together. Zoom's corporate history and financial scale belong on the company page, while exact plan prices and feature limits belong on product pages.

How is the Zoom portfolio organized in 2026?

Zoom currently presents its products across Workplace, Business Services, CX, and AI. Zoom Workplace is the employee collaboration layer and includes Meetings, Chat, Phone, Mail and Calendar, Scheduler, Canvas, Whiteboard, Clips, Tasks, Rooms, Workspace Reservation, Digital Signage, Visitor Management, and related workplace capabilities. Business Services covers products for sales, events, hiring, and other departmental workflows. Zoom CX includes Contact Center, Virtual Agent, Workforce Engagement, AI Expert Assist, and customer experience analytics. Zoom AI now includes ZoomMate, My Notes, API Services, AI Productivity Suite, Custom AI capabilities, and AI On-Prem for organizations that need different deployment controls.

What changed with Zoom AI Companion and ZoomMate?

Zoom changed its AI naming and packaging in June 2026. Features that previously carried the AI Companion name, such as meeting summaries, smart compose, transcription, call summaries, and voicemail prioritization, remain built into Zoom Workplace for eligible paid plans. Zoom says these capabilities are increasingly presented by their function rather than as one separate AI Companion product.

ZoomMate is different. It is a newer agentic product designed to work across the day rather than only inside one meeting or chat. Zoom describes it as an AI teammate that can search Zoom and connected enterprise systems, execute workflows, create deliverables, and coordinate follow-up actions. This distinction matters for licensing: included Workplace AI features and the separately packaged ZoomMate experience should not be treated as the same commercial entitlement.

What products sit inside Zoom Workplace?

Zoom Workplace remains the main collaboration environment. Meetings and Chat handle synchronous and persistent communication. Phone adds cloud telephony. Scheduler supports appointment booking. Canvas and Whiteboard provide collaborative work surfaces. Clips supports asynchronous video. Tasks captures and manages follow-up work. Rooms, Workspace Reservation, Visitor Management, and Digital Signage extend Zoom into physical and hybrid workplaces.

Zoom's current support documentation makes an important point: Workplace is the platform name, not a single premium tier. Basic, Pro, Business, and Enterprise are all Workplace plans. Some capabilities are included by tier, while others are separate subscriptions, add-ons, or bundles.

How do Zoom CX and Business Services differ from Workplace?

Zoom CX is aimed at customer service rather than internal collaboration. Contact Center provides the core contact center environment, while Virtual Agent adds automated customer interactions and Workforce Engagement adds workforce management and quality functions. AI Expert Assist and analytics extend the customer service layer.

Business Services addresses other revenue and operating workflows. Zoom's current catalogue includes Revenue Accelerator for sales conversations, Webinars and Events, and products such as BrightHire. Buyers should not assume these are automatically included with a Workplace seat. The value of the wider portfolio comes from shared communications context and administration, but the commercial scope can expand well beyond a meeting license.

How does licensing work across the Zoom range?

There is no single Zoom portfolio price. Workplace uses user-based plans, while Phone, Contact Center, Events, workplace-space products, and AI offerings can have separate subscriptions, bundles, or usage rules. ZoomMate also introduces AI credits for metered agentic actions. This means total cost depends on which communication, productivity, customer experience, telephony, and AI products an organization actually deploys.

Procurement teams should compare the full contract rather than multiplying one Workplace seat price. Recording storage, large meetings, phone calling plans, contact center capacity, rooms, spaces, AI credits, support, and regional services can all change the annual cost.

What does Zoom's AI Productivity Suite add?

Zoom's newer AI Productivity Suite is designed to turn meeting and conversation context into finished work. Current Zoom materials describe Slides, Sheets, Paper, and Canvas as AI-first creation tools that can produce deliverables from meeting context. ZoomMate can use these tools as part of a broader workflow that searches for information, creates output, and completes follow-up actions.

This moves Zoom closer to productivity-suite territory, but buyers should evaluate how much of that functionality replaces existing Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Notion, or other tools. Adding another productivity layer only reduces tool sprawl when it meaningfully replaces existing software or improves workflow completion.

Who benefits most from standardizing on Zoom?

Zoom is strongest when an organization wants meetings, messaging, telephony, hybrid workplace functions, and selected customer workflows to share one communications platform. Companies with heavy external meeting needs may value Zoom even when their internal productivity stack comes from another vendor. Organizations adding Phone, Rooms, or CX can gain operational consistency from a common supplier and administration model.

The case is weaker when Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Cisco, or another suite already covers the same workflows and Zoom would mostly duplicate them. Customer service organizations should also compare Zoom CX with specialist contact center platforms before consolidating broadly.

What should buyers check before expanding the Zoom footprint?

Important checks include identity and access controls, data residency, recording and retention requirements, regional media routing, emergency calling, telephony availability, AI governance, connected-app permissions, support commitments, resilience, and exit planning. Zoom states that it does not use customer audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or similar communications content to train Zoom or third-party AI models, but administrators still need to review which AI functions are enabled and what connected systems they can access.

The portfolio is broad enough that a Zoom purchase can become a platform decision rather than a meeting-tool decision. Buyers should expand only where shared context, administration, and workflow completion provide clear value.
