About Provizio
Provizio builds the perception layer for vehicles: the sensors and the software that let a car see what is around it, track it, and work out what it is about to do. Its approach combines proprietary imaging radar with cameras, which matters because the two fail in different conditions - radar keeps working in weather and darkness that defeat a camera, and a camera reads detail radar cannot. The customers are vehicle manufacturers and their tier one and tier two suppliers rather than drivers, so the product is a component sold into a very long design cycle. Beyond cars, the company has described applications in mixed mobility, industrial settings and smart city infrastructure, and has partnered with the e-scooter operator Voi on rider safety. The company was founded in 2019 by Barry Lunn, previously chief executive of Arralis, and is headquartered in Limerick with offices reported in Belfast and Pittsburgh. It raised EUR 5.2 million in seed funding in 2020, and works with Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland software research centre, on combining camera and radar data.
