Google named Gemini 4 in its own announcement. On 21 July 2026 it introduced Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber, and closed the post by saying it had started its most ambitious pre-training run yet, for Gemini 4. Sundar Pichai repeated it two days later on the Alphabet second quarter earnings call, on 23 July 2026. He said Gemini 4 needs a larger base model than earlier versions, and named coding and agents as priorities. That is all Google has said. There is no release date, no preview, no gemini-4 model id in the Gemini API or in Vertex AI, no benchmark result, no pricing and no context window figure. It is a training run Google has told people about, and not yet something anyone can call. The models actually shipping remain the Gemini 3 family, which Google has been updating at a fast pace through 2026.
