Cardboard is a video editor that works from a description rather than a timeline. It watches the footage you upload, so it can search across tens of gigabytes, pull the clips that match what you asked for, cut them to the beat and add the music, graphics and sound effects around them. It runs in a browser. The point of it is the first cut: getting from a folder of raw material to something you can react to takes minutes rather than an afternoon, and the editing after that is a conversation rather than a drag-and-drop session. The company was founded in 2025 by Saksham Aggarwal and Ishan Sharma, who have known each other since school, and joined Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch. Its launch was the most upvoted of that batch on Hacker News.
