Bazaar Technologies
Bazaar Technologies builds the software Pakistan's corner shops run on. Shopkeepers order stock, keep their books and borrow working capital from one app.
About Bazaar Technologies
Bazaar Technologies is a B2B commerce company built around Pakistan's kiryana shops, the small independent grocers that still account for most of the country's retail. A shopkeeper orders stock through the app instead of dealing with a wholesaler, which gives them a published price and a delivery slot on goods they would otherwise have bought on the strength of a relationship. Two other products sit on the same platform. Easy Khata replaces the paper ledger most of these shops keep their credit in. Bazaar Credit lends short-term working capital against the order history the platform already has, which is the part a conventional lender cannot price because the shop has no formal accounts. The company was founded in 2020 by Saad Jangda and Hamza Jawaid, and is based in Karachi. It has raised money in four reported rounds, ending with a USD 70 million Series B in 2022 led by Dragoneer Investment Group and Tiger Global. Both that round and the USD 30 million Series A before it were described at the time as the largest of their stage raised by a Pakistani company.
