About Traccia
Traccia is an AI agent control plane from Algen.AI. It brings observability, evaluation, cost tracking, prompt management, governance, and runtime policy enforcement into one system. The platform is built for engineering and governance teams that operate agents across more than one framework or model provider.
The product has two parts. Its Apache 2.0 SDK can send OpenTelemetry data to a team's own observability stack, while the hosted Traccia platform adds dashboards, agent inventory, policy controls, evaluations, and collaboration. This gives teams a path from local instrumentation to a managed control plane without making one proprietary tracing format the center of their architecture.
What Traccia does
Traccia records agent runs as traces that cover model calls, tool use, prompts, errors, latency, and execution context. A unified registry then provides an inventory of agents across development, staging, and production environments, with ownership and health information attached to each entry.
Its cost attribution is calculated locally when a span ends. Traccia says its pricing registry covers more than 2,500 models, and cost metrics are emitted independently of trace sampling. That design matters when a team samples traces to control storage: sampled traces may reduce diagnostic detail, but the product is designed to preserve aggregate token and cost totals.
The platform also includes a prompt registry, datasets, scorers, and experiments. Teams can compare prompt or model candidates, record evaluation results, and link a promoted prompt version to production traces. These functions are aimed at teams that want evidence for a release decision instead of relying only on manual prompt testing.
Governance functions include policy alerts, agent risk tracking, human review, spend limits, and runtime enforcement. A hard-block rule can stop an agent at its entry point rather than recording a violation after the run has finished. Optional SDK redaction can mask common forms of personally identifiable information before export.
Supported frameworks and deployment choices
Traccia provides Python and TypeScript SDKs. Supported integrations include LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, Claude Code, and direct OpenAI and Anthropic instrumentation. Because the SDK uses OpenTelemetry, it can export to compatible systems such as Jaeger, Grafana Tempo, Zipkin, and SigNoz.
Teams can use the open-source SDK locally without creating a Traccia account. That route is useful when trace data must remain inside an existing environment or when a team already operates its own telemetry backend. The hosted platform is the relevant option for organizations that want Traccia's dashboard, governance hub, cost analysis, prompt tools, and shared workflows.
This is not a claim that every framework receives identical automatic coverage. Buyers should verify the exact instrumentation depth for their libraries and agent patterns, especially when agents use custom tools, nonstandard model gateways, or an internal tracing layer.

Traccia prices its hosted platform by plan and event volume, without per-seat charges on paid plans. An event is defined as a trace, span, or observed LLM call.
- Hobby is free and includes 50,000 events with seven-day retention. - Observe costs $99 per month and includes 500,000 events, with overage at $12 per 100,000 events and 30-day retention. - Govern costs $299 per month and includes 2 million events, with overage at $8 per 100,000 events and 90-day retention. - Scale costs $799 per month and includes 10 million events, with overage at $5 per 100,000 events and one-year retention. - Enterprise uses custom pricing and volume terms, offers retention up to ten years, and lists a 99.9 percent uptime service level.
Feature access changes by tier. Cost attribution starts with Observe. Policy alerts, guardrail alerts, anomaly detection, and basic analytics start with Govern. Data lineage and advanced analytics start with Scale. Runtime policy enforcement, hard spend caps, scheduled exports, analytics API access, SCIM, and broader enterprise identity options are reserved for higher plans as shown on the pricing page.
Pricing and packaging can change. Buyers should confirm current limits, overage rules, retention, identity features, and contract terms before purchase.
Security, privacy, and compliance boundaries
Traccia presents security controls for teams that need auditability and governance. Published capabilities include role-based access control, optional SDK-side PII redaction, agent inventory, policy records, human review, and evidence exports. The site maps selected evidence to EU AI Act Articles 12, 14, and 50 and offers labeled HIPAA control exports.
Those functions should not be confused with legal certification or an automatic compliance guarantee. Traccia describes SOC 2 Type II certification as in progress. Its website also places some identity and access functions at specific pricing levels, and buyers should confirm whether audit logs, SSO, SCIM, retention, data location, and contractual terms meet their requirements.
The product can avoid payload logging in some workflows, and the local SDK route can keep telemetry in a team's own OpenTelemetry-compatible backend. Even so, each deployment needs a review of which attributes, prompts, responses, identifiers, and tool arguments are captured. Redaction based on patterns is useful, but it does not replace a data inventory or application-specific controls.

Who Traccia is for
Traccia is a practical fit for engineering teams running several AI agents, frameworks, or model providers and wanting a common tracing and governance layer. It is also relevant to platform teams that already use OpenTelemetry and want agent-specific views without replacing their telemetry foundation.
Governance, security, risk, and FinOps stakeholders may value the agent inventory, cost attribution, policy evidence, and enforcement controls. The product becomes more useful when an organization needs to answer operational questions such as which agent generated a cost spike, which workflow exposed sensitive data, which prompt version was active, or whether a policy stopped a run.
Smaller teams can begin with the free SDK or Hobby plan. Paid tiers are easier to justify when production tracing, longer retention, governance workflows, or higher event volume replaces several internal dashboards and spreadsheets.
Who should choose something else?
A team that only needs basic logs for one small agent may be adequately served by its existing application monitoring tools. The added registry, governance, evaluation, and policy layers may create more setup than value at that stage.
Organizations that require a completed SOC 2 Type II report today should not treat an in-progress certification as equivalent. They should request current security documentation and consider vendors whose certifications and contractual controls already meet procurement requirements.
Teams deeply standardized on one framework may prefer that framework vendor's native tracing product if integration depth matters more than portability. Conversely, teams that need a fully self-hosted governance application should confirm what can run locally: the SDK is open source and supports external OpenTelemetry backends, but that does not mean every hosted Traccia platform feature is available as a self-hosted package.
High-volume buyers should model events carefully because traces, spans, and standalone LLM calls can each count as events. They should estimate normal traffic, bursts, retention needs, and overage charges rather than comparing only the monthly platform fee.
